Four Month Timeline
Project Overview
This project focused on improving the experience for underwriters using a new loan purchase platform. The goal was to create a clear, efficient interface that presented all necessary loan package information in a single, organized view. The system was designed for financial institutions and mortgage brokers using AI-assisted document organization to streamline the underwriting process.
Problem
Underwriters often face time-consuming challenges when reviewing loan packages. The process involves sifting through numerous documents and verifying that all required information is present before a loan can be sold or purchased. Missing information or disorganized files can lead to delays, errors, and communication bottlenecks between brokers and buyers.
Goal
To design an intuitive dashboard that presents all the information an underwriter needs to review a loan in one place — clearly displaying organized data, highlighting missing documents, and enabling faster decision-making.
Role
UI/UX Designer — responsible for designing a user flow and interface that organize complex data clearly, emphasize critical details, and improve efficiency in the underwriting process.
Process
I collaborated closely with a senior underwriter to understand the workflow, terminology, and data hierarchy essential to underwriting. This collaboration helped define which data points were most important and how they should be prioritized visually.
- Conducted stakeholder interviews and workflow analysis
- Created persona journey maps for the underwriter role
- Developed wireframes to test layout and information hierarchy
- Built interactive prototypes for user feedback and validation

Solution
The final designs presented a single-screen dashboard displaying all required loan details grouped by category (e.g., borrower information, property details, financial documents). Missing or incomplete sections were clearly marked with visual notifications. The underwriter could quickly identify what was complete and what required follow-up, reducing manual tracking and communication gaps.
